Rhythm Lizard
I worked on a lot of the conceptual stages of Rhythm Lizard, which was a game jam project I was part of. The game centered around a chameleon who had a musical sword that attacks to the beat of music. I designed the chameleon character, as well as the environment and world the game took place in.
It was generally decided that the setting would be on a deserted planet, deprived of music and joy, and the chameleon was tasked with returning music and colour to the landscape. A chameleon was chosen as the character for its association with colours and changing different hues.
I decided to make the desert into something of a “technology graveyard” by making various plant life and buildings made out of old, abandoned technology, such as headphone tumbleweeds, video game console cactuses, USB rocks and CD plants and so much more. I thought it would bring a lot of visual interest and intrigue to the environment instead of just going with a plain desert environment.
